The Wednesday Over-the-Hump Social Party
One of the most important aspects of a student's education is learning how to dance in a purely social setting without the help of an instructor. Every Wednesday night at Dance With Me, we turn down the lights, turn up the music, and get the students to do the one thing good dancing most requires.....practice! Our Wednesday night party is the perfect way to unwind in the middle of a stressful week and practice your dancing with your fellow students and friends. Each party we will feature a brief group class on one of the latest and less talked about social dances. Then, we end the night with performances from both our students and our very own professionals! We will be playing all styles of music, so no matter what your taste or experience level, there is something to enjoy. Your friends are always welcome! Be sure to read about our Guest Class offered just before the party. The Wednesday night party is not about perfecting routines or technique....it is all about allowing yourself to have fun! Make all the mistakes you want. After all, that is what practice is for. Within a short time though, you will find yourself feeling completely comfortable dancing in a ive setting. The party lasts until 10:00 P.M. Our Wednesday night party is one of the most important events we have at DWM Stamford, and you don't want to miss it!!
There is perhaps no dance that has swept the world more over than the seductive Argentine Tango! Growing up in neighboring Brazil, Ronny Dutra became an expert in tango's subtle leads and dramatic intricacies. By popular request, he will be starting a class on Thursday nights this June! The class meets at 7:40 and will cover basic Tango principles as well as the sultry leg sweeps and 'ochos' that have made the dance a film favorite!
DWM's Weekend Kickoff Salsa Social!
It's Friday, and we are gonna start the weekend off right here at Dance With Me! Every Friday we let loose and close the week with what we call our Salsa Social! The fun starts at 7:40 with a class taught in tandem by two of the country's prominent figures in the salsa scene today: Eduardo Rojas and Collin Klaene. Each week they will focus on a different aspect of this upbeat, infectious style. Salsa is not only great exercise, but perhaps more than any other form of dance, teaches that intangible element of how to feel the music. The material will cover many fundamantal salsa skills including styling techniques, partnering, and improvisation. Of course, traditional salsa steps will be taught, but thanks to our expert duo, we will also be teaching the hugely popular group dance of rueda and the sultry bachata (with some other surprises along the way). Students of all levels can take and enjoy this class. In fact, other teachers at the school are even known to jump in and take class right along with the students! (Even professionals want to improve their dancing and have fun...) After class, stick around and join us while we practice our sexy new skills and welcome the weekend with a short Salsa Party! This is definitely one of the highlights of the week at Dance With Me, Stamford for staff and students alike, and you don't want to miss it!!
